Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) has reached 143% capacity

By Ventura Breeze Staff –

With the anticipated increase in lost pets due to 4th of July fireworks, the Camarillo and Simi Valley Shelters are in crisis mode. To help ease the strain, VCAS is offering free dog adoptions June 27th – July 13th.

Can you adopt a new furry family member? Or foster a dog to provide some much-needed time away from the shelter while helping make space for incoming animals?

If you find a lost pet:

  1. Create a found animals report at www.vcas.us/lostandfound.
  2. Call phone numbers found on ID tags.
  3. Get the animal scanned for a microchip.
  4. Post photos of the lost pet on Missing Pet social media pages and Next Door.
  5. Walk the dog around the area they were found, asking people of they recognize them.
  6. Email the animal’s picture, location found, and your contact info to VCASMarketing@ventura.org.  We will share this on social media to help you find the lost pet’s family.
